Gaze Based Learning
The Gaze-Augmented Think-Aloud (GATA) project explores a novel approach to teaching visual search strategies, particularly in complex domains like histology. By combining expert eye-tracking data with verbal explanations, this method creates instructional videos that guide learners through effective visual scanning strategies. These videos superimpose an expert’s scanpath over images, synchronizing it with their verbalized reasoning, making the learning process intuitive and engaging.
This approach demonstrated significant benefits, such as improved speed and accuracy in visual search tasks, particularly for students already familiar with the subject.
